THE G.S.S. CREW
DJ Kofi: audiovisual mix-master extraordinaire. DJ Kofi is one of the UK's most exciting musical exports. From his home base in London he has blazed a trail for aspiring Eclectic and Hip Hop DJs, taking the art-form to another level with his innovative approach to both DJing and production. In 2009, this humble and down-to-earth DJ-producer is taking his craft to the next level, expanding and diversifying his musical repertoire to include different musical styles. No musical genre is off limits to Kofi; if it works at a party or in the club, expect Kofi to spin it.
Roland: 6'2", eyes of blue. First job: toilet attendant. Filmmaker and visual artist Roland is responsible for the outstanding visual element of the GSS traveling circus. A college chum of Gorillaz' artistic director Jamie Hewlett, Roland toured the US with Gorillaz creating layered visuals for the live show and returned to the states with them to create aftershow parties in New York for the magnificent Demon Days gigs at the Harlem Apollo. He currently lives in Berlin and has an experimental laboratory in the wreckage of the Savoy Hotel.
Remi Kabaka: born in the Chinese year of the Rat. Voice coach to Russel Hobbs. In his spare time, Remi Kabaka runs an art gallery, but his real vocation is his work with Gorillaz Sound System. This one-man party starter is DJ, vibesmaster and chambermaid for the G.S.S crew. He's also been known to whip out his congas onstage. You have been warned.
Pauli: 5 star pupil. Funky hair. Also pretty damn good on the drums. Starting out with his top button done up, his school tie neatly knotted and his hair smartly side parted, Pauli drummed his way the top as a wee lad winning UK Young Drummer of the year. At the after show party his drink was spiked with 'F.U.N'. His hair suddenly sprang into the funkiest style around and his rhythm became something that even the bluest of the Blues Brothers would be envious of. When you look up the meaning of 'prodigy' you will find the description, 'Pauli Stan Mck'.
